This page explains what information BudgetBox handles, why it is needed, and how it is protected.

Definitions
  • Company: when this policy mentions “Company,” “we,” “us,” “our,” or “the app” it refers to Budget Box, that is responsible for your information under this Privacy Policy.
  • Country: where Budget Box or the owners/founders of Budget Box are based, in this case is United Kingdom.
  • Customer: refers to the company, organization or person that signs up to use the Budget Box Service.
  • Device: any internet connected device such as a phone, tablet, computer or any other device that can be used to visit Budget Box and use the services.
  • IP address: Every device connected to the Internet is assigned a number known as an Internet protocol (IP) address. These numbers are usually assigned in geographic blocks. An IP address can often be used to identify the location from which a device is connecting to the Internet.
  • Personal Data: any information that directly, indirectly, or in connection with other information — including a personal identification number — allows for the identification or identifiability of a natural person.
  • Service: refers to the service provided by Budget Box as described in the relative terms (if available) and on this platform.
  • Third-party service: refers to advertisers, contest sponsors, promotional and marketing partners, and others who provide our content.
  • Device data: Technical information relating to the device.
  • You: a person or entity that is registered with Budget Box to use the Services.
  • ICO: information commissioner’s office.
  • Transactions: refer to the manually added expenses which a user may create in BudgetBox. This is what allows the user to see and analyse their purchase history.
  • Bank accounts: refer to the manually created representations of bank accounts the user can add to BudgetBox.
  • Categories: refer to manually created objects which can store Transactions.
  • Home Screen Data: refers to the widgets located on the home screen of the app, is unrelated to a device's main home screen.
What data do we collect?

Under UK data protection law, we must have a “lawful basis” for collecting and using your personal information. There is a list of possible lawful bases in the UK GDPR. Which lawful basis we rely on may affect your data protection rights which are set out in brief below.   • Your right of access: You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. You can request other information such as details about where we get personal information from and who we share personal information with. Budget Box does not collect any personal or financial data.

The following data may be collected by BudgetBox

By us

  • Information relating to complaints: Budget Box collects bug reports for the legitimate purpose of identifying, investigating, and resolving technical errors within the app. This information helps us improve the app’s reliability, security, and overall performance, and allows us to understand the circumstances in which an issue occurred. Bug reports are not linked to a user account and are used only for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving Budget Box.

By third parties

Google AdMob

BudgetBox uses Google AdMob, an advertising service provided by Google, to display advertisements. When BudgetBox requests or displays an advertisement, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect or process information which can be seen listed below.

Google and participating advertising providers may use this information to deliver and measure advertisements, prevent fraud and abuse, limit how frequently advertisements are displayed, produce aggregated reports and, where consent has been provided, personalise advertisements.

The information processed and the type of advertising displayed may depend on the user’s consent choices, device settings and the configuration of Google AdMob. BudgetBox provides eligible users with privacy choices through Google’s User Messaging Platform. Where available, users can subsequently review or change those choices through the privacy options provided within BudgetBox.

BudgetBox does not provide users’ financial records, transactions, account balances or manually entered budgeting information to Google AdMob for advertising purposes.

  • IP address: Collects IP address which may be used to estimate the general location of a device.
  • User product interactions: Collects user product interactions and interaction information including app launch, taps, and video views.
  • Diagnostic information: Collects information related to the performance of the app and the google mobile ads SDK, including app launch time, hang rate and energy usage.
  • Device and Account identifiers: Collects Android advertising ID, app set ID, and, if applicable, other identifiers related to signed-in accounts on the device

No data other than what is listed above is sent off your device.

What data is stored locally

Budget Box uses locally stored data in order to provide app functionality, none of this data is sent off your device. When the app get deleted or uninstalled all of this data is automatically deleted and is unrecoverable.

  • Transactions: Any Transactions you add to BudgetBox get kept in a local database so they can be accessed across app sessions.
  • Bank Accounts: Any Bank Accounts you add to BudgetBox get kept in a local database so they can be accessed across app sessions.
  • Categories: Any Categories you add to BudgetBox get kept in a local database so they can be accessed across app sessions.
  • Home Screen Data: The Widgets you add to the home screen of BudgetBox and their order is kept so it can be accessed across app sessions.

No data other than what is listed above is stored locally. Budget Box processes user inputted data locally to provide normal app functionality.

How is information kept secure?

Budget Box user FireStore to collect user data, this data is encrypted by firestore during transit. No data that Budget Box itself collects is sold.

Budget Box used third parties to provide functionality for our app below is a list of any third pirates we use, any data they may collect will be stated in the “what data we collect” section of this privacy policy.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may change our Service and policies, and we may need to make changes to this Privacy Policy so that they accurately reflect our Service and policies. Unless otherwise required by law, we will notify you (for example, through our Service) before we make changes to this Privacy Policy and give you an opportunity to review them before they go into effect.
